With registration underway, the stage is set for a memorable conference in Doha’s St Regis hotel

Multaqa 450

The Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) has launched Multaqa on its 10th anniversary with a statement outlining its achievements and the conference ahead.

“It fills us with pride to host the MENA insurance and reinsurance industry for the 10th consecutive time,” said QFC chief executive Yousuf Mohamed Al-Jaida. “We initiated the conference because insurance and reinsurance are essential ingredients for economic and societal progress, in particular in an emerging market like the MENA region. Looking back over the past years, MultaQa Qatar has certainly contributed to raising awareness of the benefits of insurance and reinsurance in our region. At the same time, it has also demonstrated to the industry our region’s potential for their growth and development.”

The statement highlighted Multaqa’s position as “the flagship platform of the risk and insurance industry in the Middle East and Northern Africa (MENA)”, a position that has been earned through the “first-rate thought-leading conference proceedings, impressive speaker line-up of industry leading experts and senior executives, and the premium meeting facilities” provided at the conference.

Since 2007 senior insurance executives and leading experts have been coming to Doha to debate the trends and developments in the region that are dominating the agenda.

This year’s conference, will be opened with two keynote addresses from the Minister of Finance of the State of Qatar and Chairman of the QFC, HE Ali Shareef Al-Emadi, and Qatar Central Bank Governor, HE Sheikh Abudullah bin Saoud Al Thani.

The international industry keynote address will be delivered by Anna Maria D’Hulster, Secretary General and Managing Director of the global insurance industry’s leading think tank, the Geneva Association.
