New tool allows clients to see account details any time via web

Reinsurance broker Aon Benfield has launched ABConnect, an online portal that allows clients access to their account data any time. The facility will initially be available to the broker’s US clients, with activation elsewhere later this year and in early 2011.

ABConnect users will be able to log on using a secure internet browser connection to access a range of account-handing features. These include information on their contracts, claims, accounting and payments, and other transactional data. The portal also features navigation and search facilities.

ABConnect also incorporates Aon Benfield’s MarketReView platform, which contains real-time data on reinsurer financials, the capital markets, and updates from four of the top rating agencies via data streams from AM Best, SNL Financial and Standard & Poor’s.

“Aon Benfield is focused on continuing to use technology to improve transparency and reduce administrative burden in the re/insurance industry,” Mitch Balter, head of operations, Americas, at Aon Benfield said in a statement. “ABConnect addresses the many inefficiencies that occur in the use of manual processes and paper-based systems and provides readily-accessible information for audit purposes.”

Aon Benfield’s suite of technology solutions also includes the FAConnect placement platform, which the broker claims allows clients to quote and bind their own facultative reinsurance placements from an internet-enabled device in less than five minutes.
