Reinsurance broker Guy Carpenter posted revenues of $597m in the first half of 2011, up 7% on the $558m it made in the first half of last year.

In the second quarter alone, Guy Carpenter's revenue increased 6% to $257m (Q2 2010: $243m).

Brian Duperreault, chief executive of parent group Marsh & McLennan Companies (MMC), praised the reinsurance broker's performance. "Guy Carpenter continued to produce impressive results, reporting its tenth consecutive quarter of underlying revenue growth," he said in a statement.

MMC's risk and insurance services division, which also includes insurance broker Marsh, made an operating profit of $739m for the first half of 2011 (H1 2010: $605m. In the second quarter alone, the division's profit was $356m (Q2 2010: $258m).
