AIG has announced two senior hires within its specialty insurance business.

Steve Eccles joins AIG as its global head of aerospace and James Langdon joins as UK head of energy and construction.

Both men will be based in London, serving within the US insurer’s general insurance (i.e. non-life) arm.

Eccles joins AIG from Argo where he was chief underwriting officer International and active underwriter for ArgoGlobal’s Syndicate 1200 at Lloyd’s of London.

Before joining Argo, Eccles was the active underwriter for Travelers Syndicate 5000 at Lloyd’s.

He will start his new role in April 2020, reporting to Peter Bilsby, AIG’s global head of specialty.

Bilsby said: “As we continue to develop the leadership team of our global specialty business and position ourselves for future growth, I’m pleased to appoint Steve and James to their respective roles.”

Langdon joins AIG from Chubb, where he was global head of upstream energy.

Langdon will report to Gordon Browne, AIG’s global head of energy and construction, starting his new role in December this year.

“Our clients and partners will benefit enormously from the wealth of experience they bring to AIG, as we build a market-leading global specialty business,” Bilsby added.
