Steve Dando will set the broking strategy for Aon’s London-based wholesale and specialty broking business
Aon has appointed Steve Dando as chief broking officer for its Global Broking Center (GBC), effective 1 July.

Dando (pictured) will report to Helene Madell, CEO of Aon’s GBC.
The London-based GBC is Aon’s wholesale and specialty broking business.
In the role, Dando will set the broking strategy for the GBC, strengthen market connectivity and lead the integration of analytics, capital and global expertise to deliver risk transfer solutions for clients.
Aon said the GBC works with teams around the world to provide risk transfer advice, placement solutions, market insight and claims expertise.
Madell said: “Steve is highly regarded across the London market and brings strong credibility with clients and partners.
“His leadership will be important as we continue to strengthen the Global Broking Center’s role as a trusted and innovative partner in an evolving market.”
Dando most recently served as CEO of Aon’s Strategy and Technology Group and Inpoint across the UK and EMEA.
In that role, he led around 350 colleagues across advisory, analytics and portfolio strategy.
Before joining Aon, Dando was global head of broking at The Ardonagh Group, where he built and led the firm’s broking and carrier management strategy.
He has also held roles at other industry brokers.
Dando said: “It is a privilege to take on this role at such an important time for our clients and for the market.
“Demand for insight, certainty and advocacy is increasing as risks become more complex and interconnected.
“Our focus is to bring together Aon’s global expertise and data-driven insight to help clients navigate this environment and secure the right outcomes.”
Aon said the GBC plays a central role in connecting its global capabilities with the London market, structuring complex placements and developing solutions across specialty areas.
The business also supports proprietary facilities, including Aon Client Treaty, which gives clients access to pre-secured Lloyd’s-backed capacity.
It also supports Aon’s Data Center Lifecycle Insurance Program, a multi-line solution designed to address risks across the full asset lifecycle.
Aon said that under Dando’s broking leadership, the GBC will continue to develop as a global hub for innovation, portfolio solutions and access to capital.
The broking firm said the aim is to help clients address evolving risk challenges with greater clarity and confidence.
