Appointments underline growth ambitions across continental Europe and Iberia
Arch Insurance has promoted Jose Carlos Jiménez Fernández to head of cyber for Europe and Rafael Ortiz Losada to head of cyber for Iberia, as it looks to expand its cyber portfolio across continental markets.

Both appointments take immediate effect within Arch Insurance, the company’s EU subsidiary, with both executives based in Madrid.
In his new role, Jiménez Fernández will lead underwriting strategy, product development and distribution of cyber solutions across Europe, with a focus on growing the insurer’s regional portfolio.
Ortiz Losada (pictured immediate right) will be responsible for driving growth across Spain and Portugal, overseeing a portfolio spanning primary and excess cyber, technology E&O and media E&O risks.
Jiménez Fernández (pictured right of Losada) previously served as head of cyber for Iberia since joining Arch in 2023, having held earlier roles at Tokio Marine HCC.
Ortiz Losada joined Arch in 2023 as a senior cyber underwriter, following a similar role at AIG.
Sergio Pierro will remain head of cyber for France, working alongside Jiménez Fernández to support development across Northern Europe.
Matthew Brophy, chief underwriting officer of Arch Insurance EU, said the promotions reflect both individuals’ track record in the market.
“The promotions of Jose and Rafael into these leadership roles are thoroughly deserved,” he said.
“Both have consistently demonstrated exceptional technical expertise, strong leadership, and the ability to build successful broker relationships in the European cyber market,” he continued.
“We see significant opportunities to expand Arch’s cyber portfolio across Continental Europe and Jose will spearhead our ambitions, working closely with Rafael and Sergio to drive growth across Iberia and Northern Europe and strengthen our proposition for our brokers and clients,” Brophy added.
