Appointment at Arch Insurance supports expansion of D&O and financial institutions business across continental markets
Arch Insurance has appointed Ernesto Medina Gomez as head of executive assurance for Europe at Arch Insurance (EU).
The position at the commercial and specialty insurance carrier is newly created and takes effect immediately.
Based in Madrid, Medina Gomez (pictured) will lead the expansion of Arch’s executive assurance portfolio across continental Europe, with a particular focus on Iberia.
He will also work with Julien Martins, head of executive assurance for France, on opportunities in Benelux and France.
His remit covers underwriting strategy, product development and distribution for Arch’s executive assurance solutions.
Medina Gomez has extensive experience underwriting commercial directors and officers and financial institutions risks for large European accounts.
He joined Arch Insurance International in London in 2021 as a senior executive assurance underwriter.
Before that, he held senior underwriting roles at Probitas, Zurich and The Hartford.
Matthew Brophy, chief underwriting officer for Arch Insurance’s EU business, said Medina Gomez’s experience and leadership made him “perfectly placed” to support the business.
He said: “This is a line of business where we see opportunity for growth and for delivering real value to our brokers.
Brophy added: “His extensive market expertise and strong relationships with local European brokers will enhance our footprint across the region and support our strategic ambitions.”
