Andreas Blosche takes over regional leadership for LM Re following the retirement of Hans Van Oort, with responsibility across all property and casualty lines.
Liberty Mutual Reinsurance (LM Re) has appointed Andreas Blosche (pictured) as head of Northern Europe, effective immediately.
Based in Cologne, he will report to Eric Sugier, chief underwriting officer for property at LM Re.
Blosche succeeds Hans Van Oort, who has retired after a long career with the business.
He will lead LM Re’s Northern Europe team across property and casualty lines, overseeing strategic development and ensuring alignment with group underwriting goals.
Blosche (pictured) has spent more than two decades with LM Re and played a key role in the opening of the company’s Cologne office in 2003.
He brings 30 years of industry experience, including 20 years in property and casualty treaty reinsurance, and is recognised for his technical expertise and deep market understanding.
Sugier said Blosche’s appointment reflected both continuity and confidence in local leadership.
“We are delighted to announce Andreas’ step up to head of Northern Europe and have faith in his extensive professional and personal expertise built across multiple decades at LM Re,” Sugier said.
“His deep market knowledge and experience, including his involvement in strategic working groups and projects, will be invaluable in helping LM Re achieve its goals in the region.”
Sugier also paid tribute to Van Oort’s contribution to the company’s European operations.
“We would also like to thank Hans for his dedicated service and wish him all the best in his retirement,” he said. “He has been instrumental in laying the solid foundations that LM Re continues to build upon in Europe and beyond,” he added.
