Bardon (pictured) will join the executive committee and report directly to group chief executive Will Bridger when she takes up the role on 1 September.

She will be based in Bermuda and will also sit on the board of Pallas Reinsurance Company Limited, Compre’s Bermuda-domiciled reinsurer, subject to regulatory approval.

Her remit will span business development across the group, including origination, underwriting and transaction execution, as well as strategic market development.

Bridger said Bardon’s appointment would bolster Compre’s commercial and investment capabilities, particularly as it grows its North American portfolio.

“I am delighted to welcome Rachel to Compre,” he said.

“Her deep industry experience spans the spectrum of capital and liability solutions for cedants in our market, from prospective to retrospective underwriting. She will also bring a wider investment focus to the business.

“Her strong commercial background will strengthen Compre’s capability as we continue to seek further growth in our core North American market.”

Bardon joins from Hudson Structured Capital Management (HSCM), where she was most recently partner and chief investment officer of insurance credit, as well as deputy CIO for its reinsurance activities.

A qualified actuary, Bardon brings 25 years of experience across the insurance and reinsurance sector. Her previous roles have encompassed underwriting, portfolio management, reserving, fund and actuarial valuations, capital modelling, pricing and risk management.
