New promotion in political violence insurance market against “a backdrop of geopolitical tensions”.

The Fidelis Partnership has promoted Billy Ayres to head of crisis management.

Ayres (pictured) joined the firm in 2024 as head of terrorism, after roles at CNA Hardy and Brit Insurance.

In his new position he will oversee both the terrorism and contingency insurance teams, and will help expand product reach as part of Fidelis’ BRICS+ initiative aimed at insuring risks within Global South developing countries.

Michael Davern, UK chief underwriting officer at Fidelis, said Ayres’ leadership would be crucial against “a backdrop of geopolitical tensions”.

“His expertise, leadership, and track record of delivering results under pressure make him ideally suited for this role,” Davern said.

Ayres said he looked forward to driving Fidelis’ “high-conviction, differentiated offering in the terror and contingency markets”.
