Senior hire joins Hannover-based HDI from US rival Everest to lead international expansion and underwriting discipline

Philip Beblo

HDI Global has appointed Philip Beblo as global head of property underwriting, as it looks to strengthen its international property portfolio and underwriting capabilities.

Beblo (pictured) will take up the role on 1 May 2026, assuming responsibility for the insurer’s worldwide property local risk business.

He joins from previous roles at Everest Insurance and Allianz, where he held senior leadership roles focused on developing international property portfolios and enhancing underwriting performance.

In his new position, Beblo will work closely with Mark Mackay, global head of energy and power, and Franz Adamczyk, head of global risk property, to drive the development and scaling of HDI’s property business.

His remit includes strengthening underwriting governance, technical excellence and global standards, as the insurer seeks to support sustainable growth across markets.

Dirk Höring, member of the HDI Global executive board, said the appointment aligns with the company’s strategic priorities.

“I am confident that Philip will help further develop our international Property business with a strong focus on profitability,” he said.

“Strengthening our technical underwriting excellence and embracing the opportunities brought by AI will be key to achieving more effective underwriting and sustainable growth,” Höring added.

Beblo said the role presents an opportunity to build on the insurer’s market position.

“HDI Global is one of the world’s leading Corporate & Specialty insurers, and I have followed the company’s development with great interest for some time,” he said.

“With a clear ambition to further develop the Property business, I see HDI Global as very well positioned,” Beblo continued.

“I am very much looking forward to joining the team with ambitious goals,” he added.
