Pierre-Edouard Fraigneau is currently chief underwriting officer for LSM Europe and Liberty Mutual Insurance Europe.
Liberty Specialty Markets (LSM) has appointed Pierre-Edouard Fraigneau as president, Europe, as the insurer advances the delivery of its long-term growth strategy across the region.
Fraigneau, currently chief underwriting officer for LSM Europe and Liberty Mutual Insurance Europe, will take up the new role on 1 September. Based in Luxembourg, he succeeds Kadidja Sinz and will continue working alongside her until her retirement at the end of 2025.
He joined Liberty in 2020 and played a key role in shaping its Invest in Europe 2030 strategy. As president, he will now be responsible for executing that plan across the firm’s twelve offices in seven countries, with further expansion in the pipeline.
Phil Hobbs, president of Liberty International Insurance, said: “Pierre-Edouard is fantastically well placed to lead our European business and deliver the 2030 strategy which he was instrumental in creating.
“His appointment is richly deserved and I am extremely pleased this key role is going to an exceptional internal talent.”
Fraigneau has more than two decades of industry experience. He joined Liberty from Sanlam and previously spent 12 years at AIG, where he served as deputy general manager for North and West Africa. His international background spans the African, European and Middle Eastern markets.
Liberty has significantly expanded its European operations in recent years, with a focus on underwriting discipline and claims service. The insurer said the latest appointment reinforced its commitment to continued investment across the continent.
