Andrew Aldwinckle joins Liberty Mutual Re from Axa XL Re to lead its global casualty reinsurance portfolio.

Liberty Mutual Reinsurance (LM Re) has appointed Andrew Aldwinckle as international casualty chief underwriting officer (CUO), effective 1 February 2026.

Aldwinckle (pictured) brings more than 30 years of casualty reinsurance experience. 

He joins from Axa XL Re, where he was head of Europe and emerging markets for casualty.

He will be based in London and report to Chantal Rodriguez, CUO of LM Re.

Aldwinckle will oversee the underwriting strategy and performance of LM Re’s international casualty portfolio.

The business writes casualty reinsurance worldwide through platforms in the UK, Europe, Singapore, Australia and Latin America.

Rodriguez said Aldwinckle’s experience would support LM Re’s plans to strengthen its specialist capabilities.

“Andrew’s wealth of market experience and proven expertise will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen our international casualty capabilities, deliver on our strategic objectives, and build on our commitment to clients and brokers across key markets,” she said.

Aldwinckle said he looked forward to helping drive the next stage of the firm’s growth.
