Zurich-based hire to strengthen multinational programme capability under Invest in Europe 2030 strategy

Liberty Specialty Markets (LSM) has appointed Alexandra Weigel as head of multinational, Europe, to drive the expansion of its multinational programme capability in the region.

Based in Zurich, Weigel will be responsible for building scalable foundations and processes to support LSM’s multinational programme (MNP) offering, which forms a central pillar of the company’s Invest in Europe 2030 strategy.

The strategy aims to strengthen multinational programme delivery while also driving digitisation, applying AI to enhance underwriting and claims, expanding geographic reach and developing specialised products tailored to evolving client needs.

Pierre Edouard-Fraigneau, president of Liberty International Insurance Europe, said Weigel’s appointment came at an important moment in the business’s growth.

“Her appointment comes at a pivotal moment as we widen the scope of our multinational offering across our key products in Europe,” he said.

“Alexandra has extensive skills across insurance and multinational programmes, fostering very successful teams, and these skills and experience will be invaluable to lead our multinational strategy.”

LSM currently operates across more than 20 lines of business and has offices in seven European countries.

Weigel will work with distribution, underwriting, operations and claims teams to execute the multinational strategy and support broader growth ambitions.

She brings more than 30 years of industry experience and joins from Zurich Insurance, where she spent 19 years in a range of senior roles.

Most recently she was international business underwriting manager for commercial insurance, with responsibility for multinational programmes.
