Newly created role at the specialty carrier brings affinity, programme business and digital under a unified model

Liberty Specialty Markets (LSM) has appointed Rob Groenen as head of portfolio solutions for Europe.

The role is newly created and takes effect immediately.

Groenen (pictured) is based in the Netherlands and will continue to report to Pierre-Edouard Fraigneau, LSM’s president and chief underwriting officer for Europe.

He also retains his position as general manager for Benelux and the Nordics.

Groenen joined LSM in 2007 as country manager for the Netherlands and has since helped expand its portfolio and footprint across the Nordics and Benelux.

The portfolio solutions function brings LSM’s affinity and programme business together with its digital operations under a single operating model.

The move is designed to give clients a streamlined route into its capabilities, the carrier said, coordinating product expertise, underwriting knowledge and distribution.

Local insight will continue to be delivered through long-term regional partnerships, LSM emphasised.

Groenen will oversee delegated and digital business across Europe, including end-to-end performance and client relationships in the markets where Liberty operates.

Portfolio solutions form a central part of LSM’s Invest in Europe 2030 strategy and the consolidation signals the firm’s commitment to broker and client support across the region.

Fraigneau said the company was “delighted that Rob will be taking on this new role”.

He added: “With his long tenure at Liberty, Rob has been integral to shaping the business we see in Europe today.

“Under his leadership, the portfolio solutions function will be able to readily deploy our APB and digital capabilities to meet the needs of our clients across Europe.”
