Former Miller Bermuda chairman takes over the reinsurance business as Gary Masters moves to chairman, following a period of acquisitions and international expansion
Miller has appointed Peter Stubbings as CEO of reinsurance, with Gary Masters moving into the role of chairman of reinsurance.

Both appointments are subject to regulatory approval.
Stubbings (pictured) joined Miller in May 2026 as chairman of Miller Bermuda and has helped develop the broker’s Bermuda reinsurance and retrocession proposition.
He brings more than four decades of reinsurance and leadership experience, with client relationships across London, Bermuda, the Caribbean and the Nordics.
Masters will continue to help shape the strategic direction of the business and work with Stubbings through the leadership transition.
Miller said the changes follow significant growth across its reinsurance operations, including the acquisitions of Miller Bruzon, AHJ Miller and Shields Miller.
The broker is looking to further integrate its existing capabilities with the treaty expertise and geographic reach added through those transactions, including in the Nordics, Caribbean, North America and MENA.
James Hands, CEO of Miller, said: “We have built real momentum in reinsurance, with significant progress in our teams, capabilities and international footprint.
“Peter’s appointment as CEO of Reinsurance, alongside Gary’s transition to Chairman, gives us a strong leadership partnership for this next chapter.”
Hands added that Miller would continue to benefit from Masters’ “experience and strategic insight” following his role in developing the reinsurance business since joining through the AHJ acquisition.
Stubbings said: “The opportunity ahead is incredibly exciting. We have an exceptionally strong platform for the future, built on talented people, technical expertise and deep client relationships.
“My focus now is on building on that foundation to help serve clients even more effectively in a complex risk environment, working closely with colleagues across both our reinsurance and insurance teams at Miller,” he added.
