Cyber business set to overtake other lines as Mosaic enters new growth phase, the Bermuda insurer says.

Mosaic Insurance has promoted Yosha DeLong to the newly created position of global engagement officer and appointed Brian Bonkoski as global head of cyber, as the firm strengthens leadership around its fastest-growing product line.

DeLong, who launched Mosaic’s cyber business in 2021, will now oversee broker and client relationships, distribution strategy, and business development across all lines.

Based in Chicago, she built the cyber unit into a team of 32 specialists operating across six countries: the US, Canada, Bermuda, UK, Germany and UAE.

“Yosha’s extensive experience and deep understanding of our products and global broker relationships will be key as she leads our market engagement efforts to drive profitable growth,” said co-CEO Mark Wheeler.

“Her leadership in cyber has been integral to Mosaic’s success, and I’m confident she will excel in her critical new role.”

DeLong said Mosaic’s close client engagement would remain central as the firm expands.

“Engaging closely with our clients and partners has been a cornerstone of Mosaic’s strategy from Day One,” she said.

“As we enter this new growth phase, I’m excited to help elevate our global impact with partners, brokers, clients and stakeholders, as well as collaborate with Brian on the continued expansion of our cyber line of business.”

Bonkoski will take up the cyber leadership post on 16 June. He joins from Chubb, where he was senior vice president and head of field operations overseeing US national production and broker distribution. Earlier in his career he held senior underwriting roles at AIG.

Based in Philadelphia, Bonkoski will lead Mosaic’s global cyber product development, distribution and profitability.

“Brian’s proven expertise in cyber and technology risk, and his market following, combined with his strategic vision, will be essential in strengthening our global franchise and delivering sustainable value,” said Toby Smith, CEO, Americas. “These appointments reaffirm our commitment to being a leading, diversified global specialty underwriter and our ongoing growth plans for the Americas.”

Bonkoski said he was “thrilled to join a dynamic, agile cyber insurance carrier that’s committed to becoming a market leader”.

“I look forward to leading our mission of delivering innovative coverage and creative risk-management solutions that truly support and protect our policyholders,” he added.

Cyber was Mosaic’s first product and is now its fastest-growing business. It is expected to become the company’s largest line over the next year. The firm launched primary cyber coverage across all regions in 2023, following two years of excess layer underwriting. It also pioneered inside-out underwriting with its Mosaic x SafeInside product.

Mosaic’s cyber offering targets middle-market businesses across sectors such as financial services, retail, manufacturing and construction. The company offers up to $25 million in capacity across its underwriting hubs.

Alongside cyber, Mosaic underwrites six other specialty lines: environmental liability, transactional liability, political risk, political violence, professional liability, and financial institutions.
