Reporting to him will be Francesca Harland, who becomes head of international, professional liability, and Jacqueline Hall-Shaw, named head of international, financial institutions.

Warty (pictured) previously co-led the US financial institutions business at Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance.

Mosaic has also realigned parts of its leadership team to support the expansion.

Tom Dilley, formerly head of financial institutions, becomes global head of client engagement.

Danny Clack, deputy active underwriter of Mosaic Syndicate 1609, becomes head of broker engagement, international.

Both will report to global engagement officer Yosha DeLong and retain underwriting duties.

Mark Wheeler, co-CEO of Mosaic, said the firm was approaching a “five-year mark in 2026” and reaching an inflection point in its development.

Mosaic launched in 2021 with a hybrid approach, partnering its own capital with that of its investors’, to underwrite across several specialty lines, including transactional liability, cyber, political risk, political violence and environmental liability.

Wheeler said: “This strategic leadership evolution is instrumental as we heighten our client engagement and expand a global finpro franchise defined by deep expertise, market-leading capability, and true value creation. We welcome Sachin to the team and commend the advancements of all these executives.”

Toby Smith, CEO of the Americas at Mosaic, said economic volatility was driving liquidity stress, governance challenges and increased litigation risk.

He said: “We’re pleased to have Sachin join us as we position Mosaic to continue its rapid strategic growth and ramp up our finpro buildout along with market engagement. Economic volatility is driving liquidity stress, governance challenges, and increased litigation risk, making robust financial lines coverage more critical than ever and we’re ready to meet the demand.”

Warty joins on 15 December and will be based in Chicago.

He earlier held underwriting roles at CNA and Travelers, and said he was “thrilled to join Mosaic at such a pivotal moment”.

“The finpro market is evolving rapidly, and this role offers an incredible opportunity to help shape its future, while building solutions that not only meet today’s challenges but also redefine what’s possible for clients worldwide. Together with this exceptional team, I look forward to driving global strategies that anticipate emerging risks, serve clients, and set new standards for excellence across the industry,” he added.
