Mikio Okumura will report to John Charman at the Bermuda reinsurer
Sompo International Holdings (SIH) has appointed Mikio Okumura as CEO.
Okumura will report to John Charman, SIH’s chairman and CEO of Sompo Holdings Overseas Insurance and Reinsurance Business.
The appointment at the Bermuda re/insurer is effective from 1 January 2020 subject to regulatory approvals.
Okumura currently serves as Sompo Group’s chief strategy officer at the parent company’s offices in Japan.
He succeeds Nigel Frudd who will still be responsible for overseas M&A for the Sompo Group.
Frudd will also act as a special advisor to Sompo Group CEO Kengo Sakurada from 1 April 2020.
