Stephanie Cryer’s promotion follows Nick Hankin’s move to lead QBE Re

QBE has appointed Stephanie Cryer as chief underwriting officer of its International division, effective 1 April 2026, subject to regulatory approval.
Cryer (pictured) will report to Jason Harris, CEO of QBE International, and join the division’s executive management board.
She will also work closely with Peter Burton, QBE group chief underwriting officer.
Cryer joined QBE in 2017 as head of property before becoming head of product leaders in 2021, where she oversaw product strategy, wordings and underwriting controls across multiple lines and jurisdictions.
She brings more than 30 years of experience across major insurance product lines and geographies, having previously held roles at Chubb and ACE, now part of Chubb.
Cryer succeeds Nick Hankin, who was appointed managing director of QBE Re from 1 January 2026.
Harris said: “I am delighted to announce Stephanie as the CUO for our International division and wish her well in her new role when she starts in April.
“Her extensive experience and knowledge of the market make her a good fit for this role.”
He added: “I’m pleased that we’ve been able to make this appointment from within QBE.
“It’s a reflection of the calibre of our leaders at QBE and our strong commitment to supporting and recognising talent within the International division.”
QBE said it will announce a successor to Cryer as head of product leaders in due course.
