Singapore appointment at QBE Re arriving from Aspen supports reinsurer’s expanding Asia strategy
QBE Re has appointed Soichiro Tanaka as head of Southeast Asia.
Tanaka (pictured) will be based in Singapore and report to Cindy Foo, head of Asia, treaty.
The newly created role will see him lead underwriting strategy across Southeast Asia, overseeing portfolio management and identifying growth opportunities as the reinsurer expands its regional footprint.
Tanaka joins from Aspen Insurance Holdings, where he served as a senior underwriter.
At Aspen, he supported the growth of property, casualty and specialty lines at the firm’s Singapore branch.
He brings 13 years of insurance and reinsurance experience across Asian markets.
The appointment forms part of a wider buildout of QBE Re’s Asia leadership team.
Foo was appointed head of Asia treaty in December 2025, followed by the appointment of Sven Liu as head of Greater China in January.
Foo said: “We are delighted to welcome Soichiro to the role as we continue to grow our Asia portfolio.”
She added: “I am confident his strong technical expertise and breadth of multi-line experience in Southeast Asia will be an asset to QBE Re.”
