Marlon Williams takes on a new role to grow reinsurance and retro placements as AHJ Miller strengthens its Bermuda platform
AHJ Miller has appointed Marlon Williams as senior broker in its Bermuda office, as the firm builds out its reinsurance presence on the island.
Williams, who joined in September, reports to Charlie Simpson, head of Miller Bermuda.
He will focus on placing reinsurance and retrocessional business into the local market, with responsibility for new business generation and strengthening the broker’s property catastrophe capabilities.
Williams (pictured) brings more than 20 years’ industry experience spanning insurance, reinsurance, catastrophe modelling and property catastrophe underwriting.
He spent the past five years at Hiscox Re & ILS as senior underwriter, leading international property catastrophe underwriting and building expertise in retrocession.
Before that he worked for 15 years in the catastrophe practice at Markel Bermuda.
Simpson said the hire marked “another positive milestone in the expansion of our Bermuda team”.
He added: “Marlon’s deep understanding of international property catastrophe risk will bring invaluable expertise and insight to our clients and partners on the island.”
Shaun Sinniah, president of AHJ Miller, said the appointment reflected ongoing investment in talent.
“Marlon’s underwriting expertise and experience managing and developing teams will further strengthen our offering in the Bermuda market while also complementing the continued buildout of our global reinsurance proposition,” Sinniah said.
