The RGA president and chief executive succeeds Norman Sorensen

Greig Woodring

The board of directors of the International Insurance Society (IIS) has elected RGA president and chief executive Greig Woodring as its chairman with immediate effect.

Woodring, who has served as IIS chairman-elect since January, will succeed Norman Sorensen, former chairman and chief executive, principal international, who has served as IIS chairman since 2010.

“Greig has not only embraced, but has already helped mold the society’s vision for the future,” said IIS president and chief executive Michael Morrissey. “Next year will be a particularly significant year for the IIS, as we will celebrate our 50th annual seminar in London.

“The fast-changing global economic environment requires the insurance industry to be actively engaged in a global exchange of ideas, and the IIS plays a critical enabling role,” said Woodring. “I look forward to working with other insurance leaders, regulators and scholars to furthering the IIS mission.”
