New firm domiciled in Dublin
Bermuda-based insurer Ironshore has set up a new European insurance company called Ironshore Europe Limited, based in Dublin.
Fiona Marry has been appointed the new insurer’s chief executive. She reports to Ironshore Europe’s board, chaired by Mark Wheeler, who is also chief executive of Ironshore International.
The new division will add to Ironshore’s existing presence in the US, UK, Canada and Bermuda. It will write a wide range of speciality business. The company received authorisation from the Central Bank of Ireland in December last year.
Ironshore said it has expanded in response to greater global demand for insurance covering complex risks.
Ironshore Europe chief executive Marry has 20 years’ experience in the insurance industry. Most recently, she was European casualty manager for Allied World Assurance Company Dublin Limited. Marry also served as vice president of underwriting for XL European Insurance, having joined the company in 1991.
“Ironshore Europe offers a European access point for global brokers and carriers that are either existing or new clients,” Marry said in a statement. “The result is the creation of new distribution channels to broaden the Ironshore brand to European markets.”
