University College London Environment Institute and JLT Re to develop analytical tools for the (re)insurance industry
JLT Re has entered into a research partnership with the University College London Environment Institute (UCLEI) to develop analytical tools for the (re)insurance industry.
The objective of the venture is to develop bespoke analytical solutions for insurance and reinsurance clients in areas that are currently under-served by the mainstream industry applications.
Research projects range from flood risk modelling in South East Asia and dynamic exposure analysis of construction projects to terrorism risk modelling and impact analysis of climate change.
Alan Griffin, chairman and CEO of JLT Re commented: "Risk modelling has become part and parcel of our business. By working with the UCL Environment Institute, JLT Re will be able to help our clients and partners bridge the gaps in the industry's current knowledge of risk modelling. We will focus on those risks and classes of business that are of growing concern to our industry but that have been under-researched until now".
Mark Maslin, director of the UCL Environment Institute commented: "We are very excited about the partnership with JLT Re, which we see as an opportunity to bring the latest methodologies developed by the academic community to the insurance and reinsurance industry. UCL researchers are looking forward to using their technical expertise to build innovative practical applications for the business community".
