Liberty Syndicates has appointed litigation lawyer Bob Robinson as Syndicates Underwriting and Claims Counsel. Mr Robinson's primary function will be to help underwriters assess US casualty risks.
With legal input in the underwriting process, the assessment of client exposure will be more specific, which reduces the time needed for processing documentation and claims. Mr Robinson's appointment completes the managing agency's plan to strengthen its US casualty book.
“Bob's arrival heralds an exciting development at Liberty Syndicates,” said Sean Dalton, managing director at Liberty Syndicates. “As an extremely experienced and senior litigation lawyer, Bob adds dimension to our underwriting and claims process. He will allow us to better review the exposures we write and ensure that legal exposure changes are understood and reflected in our underwriting process.”
Specifically, Mr Robinson, who joins from Lord Bissell & Brook, where he was an equity partner since 1998, will analyse and assess US casualty exposures to help ensure wordings match terms and conditions to the needs of clients and also general environmental conditions. In addition, he will provide expert input to the claims and risk management areas.
“Liberty Syndicates is a dynamic company with a strong and supportive parent and I am looking forward to helping them maintain their recent run of excellent results,” said Bob Robinson.
Liberty Syndicates, a subsidiary of Liberty Mutual Group, is the one of the largest managing agents at Lloyd's with capacity of £716 million in 2005 for its managed syndicate 4472. Syndicate 4472 started operation on 1 January 2005 following last October's merger of Syndicates 190 and 282.
