Lloyd’s has appointed Rupert Atkin as deputy chairman of the Council of Lloyd’s.

Atkin will become one of three deputy chairmen on the body responsible for the management and supervision of the Lloyd’s market.

He will take up the role from 1 February to replace Graham White, who has been deputy chairman since 2007.

Atkin is currently the chief executive of Talbot Underwriting and chairman of the Lloyd’s Market Association (LMA). 

Lloyd’s chairman John Nelson said: “I would like to thank Graham White for his exceptional contribution as deputy chairman over the last seven years and am delighted that he will remain on the council for another year. He has been a wonderful ambassador for the Lloyd’s market.

“I am delighted to welcome Rupert Atkin as Lloyd’s new deputy chairman. Rupert is a highly regarded figure within the insurance industry who brings more than 30 years’ experience to the role. His appointment will help continue the drive towards our long-term vision for the future: Vision 2025.”
