Broker Marsh has promoted Justine Mayhew to chief executive for UK and Ireland of Bowring Marsh, its international placement business, effective from 1 January 2022.

Mayhew, who will be based in London, is succeeding Ryan Bond, who has been appointed as Marsh’s head of climate and sustainability insurance innovation. She will report to Tom Davies, global chief executive of Bowring Marsh.

In this role, Mayhew will lead Bowring Marsh’s London-based team of international placement specialists, who focus on providing risk transfer solutions, benchmarking and claims advocacy services to clients throughout Marsh’s global network.

She will also work closely with Marsh’s international placement leaders across 10 regional placement hubs, to develop solutions that support clients’ insurance and risk management objectives.

Speaking on the appointment, Davies said: “Organisations are facing an increasingly complex and often volatile risk environment. Justine is a highly respected leader who has an in-depth understanding of client needs around the world.

“Under her leadership, Bowring Marsh’s UK business is well placed to support our clients as they pursue their growth agendas.”

Offering ‘innovation and creativity’

Mayhew initially joined Marsh in 1995, focusing on the design of solutions for complex risks in the global insurance market.

Since 2016, she has been leading more than 50 international property and mining placement specialists as Bowring Marsh’s head of international property.

Mayhew added: “Increasingly, organisations require specialist expertise to help quantify and manage their complex risks. Marsh’s international placement business has a hard-earned reputation for innovation and creativity across the insurance hubs in which it operates.

“I look forward to leading the team and helping our clients continue to grow and thrive.”
