Plumeri says “managing extremes” brand reflects “how the world is today”

Willis Re has launched a new brand at the Reinsurance Rendez-Vous in Monte Carlo.

The international broker will now trade with the strap line “managing extremes”, which chairman and chief executive Joe Plumeri claimed was a reflection of the changing risk climate.

Speaking at a press conference in Monte Carlo, Plumeri said: “This is about how the world is today. We can’t suggest anymore that the world is normal. All the advice that we give is used to help our clients cope with these extremes.”

Willis Re chief executive Peter Hearn said: “By steering scientific research towards tangible, client relevant outcomes, we foster better decision making that reflects changes in risk and regulation. At the same time, we explore the potential of new, more advanced products and markets.”

The press conference in Monte Carlo highlighted recent findings by the Willis Research Network relating to extreme events such as hurricanes, volcanoes and earthquakes, and emerging risks such as climate change.
