Charles Goldie replaces Emmanuel Clarke in continuing reshuffle
Bermuda-based reinsurer PartnerRe has promoted Charles Goldie to head of specialty lines, PartnerRe Global, effective September 1. He replaces Emmanuel Clarke, who will take over as CEO of the Global division from the same date.
Goldie is currently PartnerRe Global’s head of risk management and reserves. He will remain responsible for these areas until a replacement is found. Goldie assumed his current role in 2009, having joined the company in 2002 as head of specialty lines for PartnerRe US.
PartnerRe Global comprises agriculture, surety and specialty casualty business written outside of North America as well as credit, marine, aviation, energy treaty, engineering treaty and specialty property treaties written on a worldwide basis.
Clarke’s promotion to CEO of PartnerRe Global was announced on July 12 as part of a series of changes sparked by the planned departures of group CEO Patrick Thiele and CFO Albert Benchimol at the end of this year. Clarke will replace former Global chief Costas Miranthis, who has been named group chief operating officer in preparation for taking over from Thiele as CEO in January next year.
Bill Babcock will assume Benchimol’s CFO role, while Marvin Pestcoe will take over Benchimol’s responsibilities as CEO of PartnerRe Capital Markets Group. Both changes will be effective from October 1.
