Qatar Financial Centre Authority has announced the appointment of Fetooh Al Zayani as managing director business development (Insurance and Re-Insurance). Al Zayani will generate and manage partnerships between the QFC and the national, regional and international insurance industry, and will contribute to the development of insurance and re-insurance as a key business within the Qatar Financial Centre Authority.
Fetooh was responsible for development of the strategy for insurance and reinsurance at the Dubai International Financial Centre, and was instrumental in enabling the DIFC to win the 'Industry Initiative of the Year' Review award for 2005 in its first year of operation.
The Qatar Financial Centre has been moving forward at pace in recent weeks, Credit Suisse Financial Services has been authorised to carry on Regulated Activities in the Qatar Financial Centre (QFC), and a number of top level institutions have announced their intention to seek a licence. These include Morgan Stanley, one of the global leaders in investment banking, capital markets and asset management, AXA Investment Managers, the asset management subsidiary of AXA SA, Europe's second biggest insurer, Standard Chartered bank and ALICO. HSBC has previously also announced their intention to seek Qatar authorisation.
