RFIB Group Limited (“RFIB”), the international Lloyd's insurance and reinsurance broker, has announced the acquisition of Service Insurance Solutions (“SIS”).

SIS is a provider of a variety of insurance products aimed specifically at the armed forces and has become a trading name within RFIB.

The team at SIS have over 20 years experience in dealing with military personnel and their families. Sarah Fairclough, managing director of SIS and Mike Butler, Product Development consultant, have both joined RFIB.

Prior to working at SIS, Fairclough was a director at Willis National Limited for 5 years before it was taken over by Forces Group (Affinitas Ltd). Butler spent 37 yrs in the Royal Air Force, retiring in 1997 as a Wing Commander.

The unique military focussed products that SIS offers include Service Shield and Pay Shield. Service Shield offers life cover benefit of £50,000 for those in the armed forces and unlike many similar products there are no exclusions whatsoever (provided that individuals are not on orders to move to a combat area at time of application). Pay Shield is designed specifically to protect flying pay and includes life cover up to the level of flying pay insured.
