New appointee Ronald Kaufmann will head the company’s office in Sao Paulo

SCOR has been admitted as a life reinsurer in Brazil following approval by the Brazilian reinsurance authority SUSEP (Superinténdencia de Seguros Privados Ministério da Fazenda).

The head of SCOR Group’s life representative office in Sao Paulo will be newly-appointed Ronald Kaufmann.

Kaufmann has 37 years of experience in the Brazilian life insurance and reinsurance industry. He has held a number of management and senior executive positions in various major national and multinational companies.

A longstanding committee and board member of the National Insurance and Reinsurance Association of Companies, Kaufmann worked actively prior to the publication of the new reinsurance regulation with the Regulators, Insurers’ Committees and others task forces, in order to include the specificities of Life Reinsurance in the Regulations. As a member of several international pools, he has represented Brazilian insurance companies at many international forums and seminars.

Gilles Meyer, CEO of SCOR Global Life, said: "We are very pleased to be admitted to the Brazilian reinsurance market. As the world’s fifth largest life reinsurer, SCOR Global Life is strongly committed to bringing its long-established and well-recognised expertise to the Brazilian market.

“Under the leadership of Ronald Kaufmann and with his extensive expertise of the Brazilian market, SCOR will be in a position to play an active role in the expansion of the Brazilian Life Reinsurance market and provide a wide range of products and services, such as product development, financial solutions, training, pricing and underwriting expertise.”
