Robert Henrikson nominated for a three-year term on reinsurer’s board

Swiss Re has put Robert Henrikson forward for election to the board of directors for a three-year term.

Henrikson served as chairman and chief executive of MetLife from April 2006 to December 2011. In 2010, he was appointed to President Obama’s Export Council, the principal national advisory committee on international trade in the US.

“The board feels that Mr Henrikson’s extensive experience and expertise in the insurance business will significantly strengthen Swiss Re in the key US market,” said Swiss Re in a statement.

The board of directors also proposes the re-election of former Swiss Re chief executive John Coomber and Jakob Baer, former chief executive of KPMG Switzerland, each for a further three-year term.

Swiss Re also proposes the approval of a dividend for 2011 of CHF3.0 per share, an increase from CHF2.75 in 2010, which “reflects the continuing improvements in the group’s capital base and strong profitability for 2011”.
