Reinsurance broker UIB has been awarded the tender to place the property treaty programme for Brazilian insurer SulAmérica.

SulAmérica is the third largest insurance company in Brazil with more than 6.3 million customers. The treaty programme UIB will place consists of mainly commercial and residential property risks.

“The treaty book of SulAmérica is one of the larger ones locally and UIB is delighted to have successfully emerged from a rigorous competitive tendering process,” said UIB management director of treaty reinsurance Robert Hayne. “This was achieved thanks to our policy of UIB Colombia and UIB Brazil working together as one homogeneous office to best serve our clients’ interests.”

Last December, UIB was appointed lead broker for the construction of 28 floating drilling platforms off the coast of Brazil.

Construction has already begun on the specialist ultra deepwater platforms designed to extract Brazil’s recently discovered oil reserves in the Santos Basin, 160 miles off the coast of Rio de Janeiro.
