The latest insurance stories online
If our list of top five online stories in April tells us one thing, it’s that our readers can’t get enough of finding out what their competitors are up to.
All of our top five reports last month on globalreinsurance.com went that extra mile by offering interpretation and analysis of the latest breaking industry news stories.
There’s nothing like uncertainty to drive people to seek news and information, so speculation over a possible transaction between Munich Re and XL Capital sent insurers and brokers scurrying to their computers for the latest updates in mid-April.
And it’s no surprise that our reports on the 1 April reinsurance renewals proved popular. The consensus seems to be that, despite first-quarter catastrophes wiping out half of reinsurers’ 2010 ‘breathing space’, only incremental price changes can be expected in the remaining mid-year renewals – provided there is no repeat of the natural catastrophes seen in the opening months of the year.
Elsewhere, GRTV was the third most popular item on the GR website in April, as our readers flocked to watch news being made live on TV. Check the site for episode two, where key industry figures give their views on the industry’s hot news topics.
Finally, one of our news analysis pieces from the print magazine crept into the top five list for the first time.
‘Lloyd’s of New York’ looked at the possibility of a Lloyd’s-style insurance market being set up in the Big Apple. Watch this space!
