Wellington Underwriting has announced the appointment of Heather Thomas as general counsel and company secretary of Wellington and, subject to regulatory approval, compliance officer of Wellington Underwriting Agencies Limited. She will report to Preben Prebensen, chief executive of Wellington and will be a member of the Group Executive Committee.
Heather Thomas joins from Lovells, where she has been a consultant to the insurance and reinsurance group since 1998. Previously, she spent 16 years with the Willis Group as Managing Director of the Legal and Risk Management Department of Willis Corroon Plc, where she was responsible for legal advice to the group's businesses, purchase of group insurance, conduct of claims against the group and corporate transactions.
