Will Thoretz becomes vice president leading global communication strategy

Willis has appointed Will Thoretz as vice president for group communications. Based in New York, he will be responsible for developing and executing the company’s external and internal communications strategies worldwide and leading the global communications team in London and New York. He will report to Valerie Di Maria, Senior Vice President and Group Marketing and Communications Director.

Thoretz brings 25 years of communications experience to Willis, and was most recently Senior Vice President and Chief Communications Officer at VNU N.V. (now The Nielsen Company), a global information and media company that includes ACNielsen and Nielsen Media Research. Prior to that, he was responsible for financial communications at Philip Morris, the former consumer products giant that included Philip Morris, Kraft Foods and Miller Brewing Company. Earlier, Thoretz was with the public relations firm Manning, Selvage & Lee, and before that was chief spokesman for Long Island Lighting Company, an electric and gas utility.

A graduate of New York’s St John’s University, Thoretz is a member of the International Association of Business Communicators and a past member of the National Investor Relations Institute.
