Jumeirah Palm Island In Dubai

Aspen Re has today opened a new hub in Dubai to cater for the Middle East and Africa (MEA), after being granted a license to operate from the Dubai Financial Services Authority in December 2015.

The move supports the Bermuda-based reinsurer’s strategy to maximise opportunities in markets with profitable growth potential.

Aspen Re chief executive Stephen Postlewhite said: “Aspen Re’s strategy is to enhance growth in regional areas and to build on our ability to identify and respond swiftly to emerging opportunities.

“The Middle East and Africa region offer significant opportunities for profitable growth and we look forward to serving our clients in Dubai and beyond.”

Three senior appointments have been made to support the new hub: Peter Thompson joins from Assicurazioni Generali; Houcine Zouaoui joins from Gulf Re; and Attilio Tornetta joins from Swiss Re. All three will report to Aspen Re senior executive officer – hear of the Middle East and Africa Abdallah Balbeisi.
