Whilst a number of cat bonds are risk following Irma’s US landfall, Stephen Moss, director, capital markets at RMS doesn’t believe it’s going to change “the appetite for this kind of investment from an investor standpoint”. 

”We have actually already seen some of the larger ILS firms being out there in the market and starting to lay the groundwork of additional capital raising, should it be required. We’ve always heard from the market that for every dollar in this space there are mulitples of those number of dollars waiting to get in when both product material and rates recover somewhat. I can only see the outcomes from hurricane Irma and any losses that result be a positive thing for money coming into this space.”
