The broker is in talks with Cooper Gay over the possible sale of its general wholesale businesses

Heath Lambert has announced that it is in discussions with Cooper Gay over the possible sale of its general wholesale businesses. These include its international wholesale, UK wholesale, reinsurance and aviation divisions.

If the transaction proceeds Heath Lambert will retain certain specialist wholesale businesses.

In the event that these negotiations are concluded successfully employees assigned to these divisions will transfer to the employment of Cooper Gay, as part of a “TUPE transfer”.

All clients affected are being informed although the impact of the changes on clients is expected to be minimal.

Adrian Colosso, chief executive officer for Heath Lambert Group, commented: "We are working to complete the process of focusing Heath Lambert on our core retail activities. We have substantial opportunities to develop these activities and benefit from our position as a leading independent insurance broker. We intend to continue to strengthen these businesses through recruitment of quality individuals and teams, opening new offices and the development of our distribution channels."
