Christian Hoffman will lead Aon’s global commercial risk business, reporting to Joe Peiser, CEO of risk capital

Aon has appointed Christian Hoffman as global CEO of commercial risk, effective 1 June.
Hoffman (pictured) will lead global commercial risk business for the re/insurance broker, with a focus on connecting clients’ risk needs with risk capital as organisations face rising volatility.
He will report to Joe Peiser, CEO of risk capital at Aon, and will work with the firm’s regional teams and Aon Business Services to deliver integrated and analytics-enabled client solutions.
Hoffman currently serves as Aon’s global specialty and financial products leader and head of M&A for North America.
He oversees a portfolio that includes financial services, professional services, cyber solutions, intellectual property, crisis management and credit solution.
Joe Peiser, CEO of risk capital at Aon, said: “Commercial Risk is central to how we help clients navigate an increasingly complex and interconnected risk environment.
“Christian has spent his career working closely with clients to address their most challenging exposures, from cyber and financial lines to emerging and systemic risks.
“He has Aon United in his DNA, bringing together expertise, analytics and market relationships to deliver better outcomes.
“His deep specialty experience and understanding of how to connect risk with the right forms of capital position him exceptionally well to lead Commercial Risk at a time when clients need greater clarity, flexibility and innovation.”
Hoffman has more than 25 years’ experience in the insurance and financial services industries as both a broker and underwriter.
Since joining Aon in 2003, he has held senior roles including global cyber leader, CEO of cyber solutions for North America, president of US cyber solutions, US practice leader for professional risk solutions and east region leader for the financial services group.
Earlier in his career, Hoffman spent five years at Chubb as an underwriting manager and senior underwriter.
Hoffman said: “I am honored to take on the leadership of Commercial Risk at this important moment for our clients.
“Organizations are facing unprecedented risk complexity, from cyber and transaction risk to increasing natural catastrophe exposure and adverse liability trends in the US.
“Our unique ability to bring together deep specialty expertise, powerful analytics and global market access is a real differentiator, and I am excited to work with colleagues around the world to deliver solutions that help our clients make better decisions.”
