Apollo’s latest Lloyd’s platform to provide follow-only reinsurance capacity from January 2026
Apollo has received “in principle” approval from the Lloyd’s Council to launch Apollo ReShare Syndicate 1972, which is expected to begin underwriting on 1 January 2026.
The new syndicate will provide follow-only capacity on the outwards reinsurance programmes of Apollo-managed syndicates, the London market firm said.
It will be led by Paul Sandi, Apollo’s head of reinsurance, who takes the role of active underwriter.
Sandi said Syndicate 1972 would offer “a dynamic and diverse portfolio across property, specialty, and casualty classes, underpinned by a strong track record of success.”
He continued: “We are really looking forward to the opportunities this creates for us and our partners as we look to the future.”
Apollo said the creation of Syndicate 1972 reflects its strategy of delivering stronger returns for capital providers while supporting cycle management.
David Ibeson, Apollo group CEO, said: “We are thrilled to announce the establishment of Apollo ReShare, which demonstrates our innovative approach to enhancing our returns to capital partners.”
Nick Jones, Apollo’s chief reinsurance officer, added that the syndicate would deliver both efficiencies and long-term support.
Apollo said the launch builds on its record of innovation and recent expansion initiatives, adding a new dimension to its capital management strategy at Lloyd’s.
“The creation of a dedicated long-term reinsurer for our managed syndicates will greatly benefit our capital providers,” Jones said.
“Apollo ReShare offers highly rated capacity, creates efficiencies in reinsurance spend, reduces execution risk for core placements whilst supporting cycle management. Our future strategy will be to also offer Syndicate 1972 reinsurer support to our platform partner syndicates as part of our forward-thinking approach,” Jones added.
