Dublin-based carrier builds out continental platform with new underwriting hubs and multi-line Italian presence
Arch Insurance EU has launched a European property business and opened a new office in Milan, expanding its continental footprint.

The company said the move strengthens its position as a multi-line P&C insurer in Europe, with underwriting hubs in France, Italy and Spain supporting the new property capability.
The Milan office will write accident and health, cargo and logistics, fine art and specie, general liability and property, with senior underwriting leads appointed across each line.
The property team will operate with a broad risk appetite, offering solutions across the full range of occupancy types.
The expansion builds on Arch’s existing European platform, adding to capabilities in casualty, cyber, executive assurance and fine art and specie, and enabling more integrated solutions for brokers and clients.
Duncan Smith (pictured), CEO of Arch Insurance EU, said: “The property launch, together with our new Milan operations represents a significant step in scaling our European platform.
“By expanding our capabilities and investing in local presence, we’re strengthening our ability to deliver integrated, multi-line solutions.
“We remain focused on continuing to increase our relevance, building long-term partnerships and providing brokers with consistent, reliable capacity across the region,” continued Smith.
Hugh Sturgess, CEO of Arch Insurance International, said: “This is an important development in the ongoing delivery of Arch’s broader strategy to combine local expertise and capabilities with global scale.
“Through this, we are able to deliver comprehensive solutions across the P&C spectrum to bolster our market presence, enhance service and continue to strengthen our underwriting and claims proposition to our brokers and mutual clients,” he added.
