Spurgeon will report to Susan Barber, head of financial risks, reinsurance, at Liberty Mutual Reinsurance.

Based in London, Spurgeon (pictured) has been with Liberty Mutual Reinsurance for nine years.

Liberty Mutual Reinsurance emphasised his cyber reinsurance leadership and London market profile via the International Underwriting Association of London Cyber Reinsurance Committee.

In his new role, Spurgeon will be responsible for the growth of LM Re’s global cyber portfolio.

He will also work with brokers and clients to develop structured cyber solutions.

Spurgeon succeeds Ivonne Staisch, who has left the business to pursue new opportunities.

Barber said: “We are delighted to announce Tom as our Global Head of Cyber Reinsurance at LM Re which is testament to the investment in talent at Liberty.

“In an increasingly complex risk environment, we are committed to delivering tailored cyber solutions for our clients and brokers and Tom will be instrumental in continuing to develop our global cyber portfolio,” she added.
