Senior reinsurance underwriter takes over Belgium operation from Bernard Chanteux
Mapfre Re has appointed Benoit Goureau as director of its Brussels Management Center, effective 15 September 2026.
Goureau (pictured) will lead the reinsurer’s operations in Belgium under the coordination of Mark Meyerhoff, regional director for EMEA.
He succeeds Bernard Chanteux, who is leaving Mapfre.
Goureau joined Mapfre Re’s Paris Management Center in June 2024 as a reinsurance underwriter in non-life treaty and claims underwriting.
He was promoted to senior reinsurance underwriter in April 2025, a role he held until his latest appointment.
Goureau has more than 20 years of insurance and reinsurance experience, including senior roles focused on reinsurance underwriting and client and broker management.
The appointment was approved by Mapfre Re’s Management Committee earlier this month, the reinsurer added.
