Senior appointments will support the Lloyd’s insurer’s expansion in direct cyber as it targets a larger position in the class
MS Amlin has appointed Alex Jomaa as head of cyber and Monica Tigleanu as lead underwriter as it looks to expand its direct cyber portfolio.
Jomaa will report to Stuart Wood, director of casualty and cyber at MS Amlin.
The Lloyd’s insurer began writing cyber treaty business in 2024 before expanding into direct cyber insurance in 2025 through a small number of strategic coverholder relationships.
The latest appointments form part of a broader strategy to expand existing lines into adjacent areas where the insurer sees potential for profitable growth.
Martin Burke, chief underwriting officer at MS Amlin, said: “These appointments mark the next stage in the development of our cyber portfolio.
“We already have an established presence in the cyber market, where we have grown our cyber treaty and delegated business in a controlled and disciplined way.”
Jomaa joins from cyber managing general agent Onda AI, where he was chief underwriting officer and a founding executive.
He previously held cyber underwriting roles at Tokio Marine Kiln and CFC Underwriting.
Tigleanu was most recently cyber strategy director at BMS Group.
She has also held senior cyber underwriting and broking roles at Munich Re Syndicate, Marsh Specialty, Beazley and AIG.
Burke said: “Alex and Monica bring the underwriting expertise and market experience needed to scale the portfolio further, while maintaining the same careful and selective underwriting approach.
“As market conditions evolve, we are focused on broadening out parts of our existing portfolio where we see the potential for further growth.
“Cyber is one of those areas, and we believe there is a clear opportunity to build a larger and more meaningful position in the market and meet more of our brokers’ needs,” he added.
