MSIG Asia has appointed Ronak Shah as regional CEO, effective 1 October.

He will succeed Clemens Philippi, who was appointed co-chief strategy officer of MS&AD Insurance Group Holdings in April to lead the group’s international business strategy.

Shah (pictured) joins MSIG Asia from QBE Asia, where he held several senior leadership roles.

He most recently served as CEO of wholesale markets Asia, having previously led QBE’s Singapore business as country CEO.

MSIG Asia said Shah has more than two decades of insurance experience across Asia and North America.

His appointment will see him lead MSIG Asia’s operations across Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, India and Oceania.

He will also take on regional leadership responsibility for Mainland China, Taiwan and Korea.

MSIG Asia said the expanded mandate reflects its commitment to greater strategic alignment across Asia Pacific, supporting collaboration, execution and growth across the region.

In his new role, Shah will be responsible for MSIG Asia’s regional direction, strategic priorities, business performance across key markets, regional collaboration, and customer and partner engagement.

Hironori Morimoto, group chief global officer and senior managing executive officer of MS&AD, said: “Ronak brings deep regional expertise, strategic insights and a strong track record of delivering results across complex and dynamic markets.

“We are confident he will build on MSIG’s strong heritage and presence across Asia, and lead MSIG Asia through its next phase of growth and value creation.

“We also thank Clemens for his contribution to the development of our Asia business, and I look forward to his continued leadership in his new role as the Group’s International Business Co-Chief Strategy Officer.”

Shah said: “MSIG Asia has built a successful business with a clear sense of purpose, and I’m proud to be stepping in at such an important point in its journey.

“The company has a strong platform – with talented teams, deep customer relationships and a clear ambition for what it can achieve across Asia Pacific.

“My focus is straightforward: sharpen our strategy, empower our people to execute with excellence, and create greater value for our customers and partners who count on us.

“The opportunity across this region is significant, and I intend to make the most of it.”
