The one-day conference is the first of its kind on the island

The island of Bermuda is gearing up for its newest (re)insurance event, Global Reinsurance Innovation & InsurTech Bermuda, launching on Monday.

The one-day conference will see Global Reinsurance hosting the first major industry event in Bermuda devoted to this topic as the market plots its evolution in this space.

According to Lead sponsor Hamilton Insurance Group: “One-third of traditional insurers depend on InsurTech solutions to bring their products to market. Innovation is ringing in sweeping change, and the potential for further disruption is ripe.”

The morning will start with speeches and keynotes from the likes of Bermuda premier and minister of finance The Hon. E. David Burt; Hamilton Re chief executive Kathleen Reardon; and Tokio Millennium Re head of Bermuda Kathleen Faries.

The presentations, panels and breakout sessions held throughout the day will tackle themes like ‘transforming your company into the (re)insurer of the future’; ‘how insurance core technology is changing’; ‘supervision, regulation and the impact of external influences in Bermuda’; ‘Big Data’; and ‘the Internet of Things’.

Rounding off the day will be the Startups Live! Session, were six of the most innovative startups from the next generation in Bermuda InsurTech will each give a five-minute pitch their products to a panel of experts.
