Dieter Goebbels retires from the post in 2018

Dr Thomas Götting has been appointed XL Catlin country manager Germany. He succeeds Dieter Goebbels, who will retire in early 2018.

Götting, who previously held positions at Atradius and Coface, will take up the post on 1 January 2018 and will be based in Cologne.

He will report into XL Catlin chief executive client & country management Kelly Lyles.

Lyles commented on the appointment and the importance of the German market, saying: “The German economy expanded by 0.7% in the first half of 2017, its fastest pace in three years and, as the largest economy in Europe, it is a key market for XL Catlin.”

She added: “Thomas has the client focused and solution oriented approach that our business partners have come to expect from us. I am confident that he will lead our team to develop an even stronger presence across product lines and client segments in Germany.”

Commenting on Goebbels’ retirement, she said: “Dieter’s successful insurance career has spanned 45 years. We thank him for his dedication in helping XL Catlin build a very strong and loyal client base in the market. He will stay with us for a transition period to ensure a smooth hand-over to Thomas.”
